Niall MacCarthy recently acted in the settlement of a significant personal injuries case for a client who sustained an injury at work. The extent of the injury meant that the client could not return to work having been deemed medically unfit to do so. Liability was not accepted by the Defendant employer and a number of expert reports were required in relation to the injury (which was complicated), the claim for loss of earnings and the client's inability to work. On the day of the hearing in the Dublin High Court, a significant six figure settlement was secured for the client including loss of earnings. The client was delighted with the outcome of what was a complex and challenging case.
